Former F1 star Logan Sargeant has admitted that he wants to become one of just a handful of that series' drivers to also start a NASCAR race.
The Fort Lauderdale native ran his last race in F1 back in 2024, being dropped by Williams mid-season after picking up just a single point from 36 starts.
After running an IndyCar test later that year, Sargeant took a break from racing until the summer of 2025, returning to run a couple of races at the end of the IMSA SportsCar Championship season.
The 25-year-old will run the 24 Hours of Daytona this month on a team with Jacob Abel, Ferdinand Habsburg, and Naveen Rao, and told Sportscar365's John Dagys that he wants to drive a NASCAR race at a road course at some point in the future.
Sargeant looking to future
“I’m super excited to be tackling my first-ever Daytona 24 with Era to kick off 2026,” Sargeant said last week. “It’s a race I’ve always wanted to be part of, with how close it is to home. It’ll be great to get acquainted with my teammates at the ROAR and push hard to come away with a Rolex at the end of the race.”
Former F1 champion Jenson Button is the most recent of the sport's drivers to start a NASCAR race, competing at two road courses and the Chicago street circuit back in 2023.
Button revealed last year that he was stepping back from a racing calendar which included a number of IMSA races, but did add: “NASCAR is very different [to Hypercar], because it is very mechanical.
“I could probably do that because I could jump in and feel what the car is doing: you don’t have all the systems, so it a lot easier.”
