NASCAR honored the late, great Kyle Busch with the most beautiful of tributes on an emotion-charged night in Charlotte on Sunday.
The Cup Series Coca-Cola 600 race was merely a sideshow as a sport mourned one of its greatest ever competitors, in the most tragic of circumstances.
The sight of the 41-year-old legend's widow Samantha and 11-year-old son Brexton surrounded by their NASCAR family as a lone piper played 'Amazing Grace' reduced a nation to flowing tears.
Brexton being comforted by Owen Larson, son of Kyle, tugged strongly at the heartstrings as all generations showed what it means to be a part of this very special sporting kinship.

Supporting Samantha, Brexton and Lennix
This was the first time NASCAR had been able to publicly come together and show support for the Busch family since Kyle's death last Thursday, and they did it beautifully. This was a powerful message to Samantha, Brexton and four-year-old Lennix that they will always have friendship and support. They will never be alone.
Kyle's sudden and shocking death again ripped the heart out of a sport which has dealt with so much tragedy in the last 12 months. But again it also showcased a sport which will once again come back stronger.
Busch was an incredible champion and an incredible presence in NASCAR - fearless and at his peak one of the most dominant forces in its long history. This was the most fitting of tributes to a true sporting legend.
An incredible Busch legacy off the track
Off the track the persona was an altogether different one, just Kyle instead of 'Rowdy' - a loving family man who built an incredible legacy through the wildly successful Bundle Of Joy foundation that he set up along with Samantha.

That foundation will live on, there will be more babies who are born and more generations who will exist purely thanks to the heartfelt endeavors of Kyle and Samantha Busch - a legacy which will never ever die.
The agony and pain evident in Samantha and Brexton on Sunday in Charlotte was there for all to see, reminding us once again that above all Kyle was a father and a husband, and a great one.
The last four days have been full of pain and sadness for NASCAR nation - a sport and a fanbase united in grief at the loss of a true champion, and united in love and support for the grieving family he leaves behind.
Remembering and honoring the legacy of Kyle Busch does not end here, this was just the start. Samantha, Brexton and Lennix will need every bit of support the sport can provide in the coming weeks and months.
Our thoughts remain with them in their hour of grief. Rest in peace Kyle.
