NASCAR star Carson Hocevar visited Indy 500 practice this week, ahead of the weekend's qualifying sessions.

The Spire Motorsports star spent Wednesday up on the Andretti Global timing stand – the IndyCar team owned by TWG Motorsports, just as his NASCAR team is – taking in the preparations for a race that he freely admits is his 'favorite race in the world'.

Hocevar has once again admitted that he'd love to have the iconic race on his schedule at some point in the future, although he admitted some concerns that at 6'4, he might be too tall for the cars.

He revealed on FOX this week that he and some people at the track had been doing 'redneck science' to figure out whether he'd be able to fit into the tight cockpit of the car if, one day, he convinced Andretti leadership to give him a run.

Hocevar reveals height concerns for Indy 500 bid

"I'm hoping..." he began. "I'm short torso, so I don't know if that helps or hurts me. I feel like if my head's too high that's a big problem, but if I can shimmy it and get myself up that's okay.

"We've already been doing redneck science measurements trying to understand if I can even sit in one."

He continued: "I would absolutely love to do it one day, and enjoy it. But I want to win the Brickyard 400 and win some more Cup races, but if they're ahead on the timeline I wouldn't say no."

Hocevar 'cosplaying as an Indy 500 driver'

“It’s really fun for me to come here,” Hocevar said on Wednesday. “I’ve been living vicariously, cosplaying as an Indy 500 driver every time I run the Brickyard 400 here. I get to act the part a little more.

“I would absolutely love to do it one day and enjoy it.

“I just love this race. I don’t know what it is. It’s my favorite track to just watch races. It’s my favorite month. It’s the story of it. There’s always a storyline through the whole month of May.”
