Katherine Legge has admitted that she is hoping to complete a rare racing double-header this year.
NASCAR will be joined at Phoenix Raceway in March by IndyCar, with the two series doubling up at the oval for one weekend only.
When most people think of doing double duty between the two series, they think about the Indy 500 and Coca-Cola 600 'Memorial Day Double', in which drivers attempt to win both iconic races on the same day.
Only Tony Stewart has ever completed the full 1,100 miles of that titanic endeavour, but Legge admitted recently she's hoping to give the slightly less demanding Phoenix weekend equivalent a shot.
Legge: I might be the only double driver at Phoenix
The IndyCar race will share the Saturday of the weekend with the O'Reilly Auto Parts Series, while the Straight Talk Wireless 500 will dominate the Sunday's running – a total of 567.5 miles across the two races.
Legge, who made her Cup Series debut at Phoenix last year for Live Fast Motorsports, told Racer in an interview about her plans to also return to the Indy 500: “With Sam Schmidt, I had a car that was capable of winning, or at least a top 10, and I know I can run there again.
"There's no race that evokes the same emotion as Indy. There are some really cool races. You've got Daytona 500, you got Le Mans, Bathurst, the Daytona 24 Hour. You’re always gonna want to do those right?
“As long as you're in with a shot and you feel like you’ve still got it, and I feel like I’ve still got it, I want to race again at Indy. And I’d love to do Phoenix as well and do the Cup weekend with IndyCar and maybe be the only driver who goes there to do both.”
