Alex Bowman has announced his engagement, in a typically understated post on Instagram.

The NASCAR Cup Series star uploaded two pictures of himself and his new fiancee Chloe Henderson, with the caption 'did a thing'.

The first picture shows the pair on what appears to be a building site in the woods, with their two dogs and Henderson's hand artfully positioned to show off the ring, while the second shows the Hendrick Motorsports star down on one knee in the act of proposing.

The staging for the engagement, with mounds of red dirt in the background, have fuelled some speculation online that the site for the proposal could also be the site of the pair's future home.

NASCAR congratulates happy couple

The comments of the post were filled with well-wishes for the couple, including some from Team Hendrick, NASCAR, and some of Bowman's sponsors.

The 32-year-old is looking for a big season in the Cup Series going into 2026, having clawed his way into last year's playoffs on points despite not visiting victory lane all season.

While it's still unclear what the sport's championship format will be next year – a growing source of frustration among fans, especially with the long-running 23XI and Front Row Motorsports lawsuit now out of the way – Bowman will expect to improve on a tricky 2025.

While his failure to win a race made him vulnerable in the race to the postseason, his consistency (six top-5 finishes and a further ten top-10 results) could be a boon for a rearranged system in 2026.
