Carson Hocevar has admitted that he isn't a fan of people comparing him to NASCAR legend Dale Earnhardt.
The Spire Motorsports driver, who will race with an Earnhardt-inspired pain scheme at Darlington this weekend, admitted that as much as he appreciates the comparisons, he doesn't actually like them.
Hocevar was interviewed by NASCAR YouTuber Eric Estepp this week, making the admission and revealed he jokes that other drivers should also be compared to Earnhardt if the qualification is simply 'drives fast and sometimes wrecks people'.
Hocevar will be racing twice at Darlington this week, once on Friday night in the Truck Series and once in his normal Cup ride on Sunday, when he will run the Earnhardt throwback scheme.

Hocevar: There's no 'next Earnhardt'
“I don’t even really like the comparison. I mean, I appreciate it obviously, but I feel like we’ve probably should have won a race now. There are a lot of things that have taken us out of contention of those.
"But I’m like...cos every now and again [I] run into people, and now I’m running a black car here and there. I don’t really see it. I mean we were joking. I was like, I love Corey Day. Like, I’m a big fan of his, but I was like, he’s Dale Earnhardt, too.
“He’s been running into people and everything. It’s a good business decision to maybe sell some t-shirts, but number one, even if I won everything, even if I have 10 Cup wins and we had a shot to win a championship last year, nobody’s the next Dale. I mean, I’ve been sitting here in every interview. I just want to be me. It’s a lot easier.
"I love the paint scheme, but I'm gonna be fully transparent – I didn't love the thing of me recreating the photo too much, I was like 'okay, this is kind of contradicting everything I've been saying'."
