Daniel Dye has been suspended indefinitely by NASCAR for comments made on an online livestream.

Dye's comments about meeting IndyCar driver David Malukas on the stream on WhatNot on Tuesday, during which he adopted a faux 'camp' voice while impersonating Malukas, drew immediate attention on social media, being criticized as homophobic.

He had been on the stream with O'Reilly Series rookie Brent Crews, who walked off screen during the comments in question. Crews will not be subject to any NASCAR discipline.

NASCAR acted quickly to suspend the 22-year-old indefinitely, with Kaulig Racing also confirming that he has been suspended by the team.

Dye must complete mandatory sensitivity training before he can return to racing in the NASCAR Truck Series, where he is currently in his third full-time season.

NASCAR and Kaulig suspend Dye

Dye has been penalized under Section 4.3.C in the NASCAR Rule Book, which states in part: “NASCAR Members shall not make … a public statement or communication that criticizes, ridicules, or otherwise disparages another person based upon that person’s race, color, creed, national origin, gender, sexual orientation, marital status, religion, age, or handicapping condition.”

Kaulig's statement on the matter read: “Kaulig Racing has indefinitely suspended driver Daniel Dye, effective immediately, after becoming aware today of comments he made on social media.”

Dye is one of the drivers headlining Ram's return to NASCAR in 2026, as one of their two full-time drivers with extensive experience in national series (along with Justin Haley).

It is currently unclear when Dye will return, or who will fill his seat in the interim.
