RFK Racing have unearthed an incredible piece of old NASCAR footage from nearly 20 years ago, after a long search.
A Twitter user going by the handle ‘@WiiCar16’ has been searching for a clip of one particular save – naturally, by Greg Biffle driving a Nintendo Wii-sponsored car – for years before he caught the team’s attention.
The first hint that WiiCar16 was going to finally get his wish came on December 1, when RFK’s account posted ‘Buddy do I have news for you’
That was attached to a March 2022 tweet from WiiCar16, which read: “There is no footage currently available of Greg Biffle's save qualifying in for the 2007 Dodge Dealers 400. Rusty Wallace on lap 168 described it by saying he kept on the throttle during the spin on his second lap and didn't hit the wall ever. Like dude I wanna see that why where.”
Wii Car footage unearthed
A few days later, the team posted a video with the caption “WII FOUND THE LOST FOOTAGE. @WiiCar16, this one's for you.”
The video begins with a montage of the account’s tweets about the lost footage of Biffle’s save, before someone sneaks into a room marked ‘RFK Racing Archive’ to recover a VHS.
Then? The clip that started it all. A full, high quality copy of Greg Biffle’s qualifying save in the Wii car at Dover. The kicker to the whole thing? Because the slide happened on Biffle’s second lap, the time from his first was still good enough to qualify him ninth.
Please, watch the full video below. Never give up on your dreams, even if your dreams are very specific and niche.
