Stephen A. Smith says that he and Michael Jordan got into an argument recently after he made controversial comments about NASCAR drivers.

Smithy caused uproar among some in the NASCAR community last week when he claimed that the sport's drivers were not athletes on a SiriusXM Radio show, with golfers having been put in the same category.

"You can be behind the wheel of a car in your 60s and 70s for crying out loud," part of Smith's comments read. "A golfer is not an athlete. A NASCAR driver is not an athlete."

Naturally, those comments led to backlash, including from the likes of Joey Logano and Kevin Harvick. Smith, though, doubled down on his comments, telling Logano to 'Google me!' after he claimed that Smith only makes such comments to keep himself in a job.

Now, Smith has also revealed that 23XI Racing owner Jordan also contacted him after his initial statement in order to correct him.

True to style, Smith did not back down, revealing that the pair argued over the matter.

“You know who wanted to correct me about the NASCAR thing? Michael Jordan,” Smith said during his Mad Dog Sports Radio show on SiriusXM, via FOX News.

“Michael Jordan. I argued with him! Because that’s how I feel! I’m being honest. That’s how I feel. That’s all, it’s not a crime.

"That’s what makes radio and sports talk.”

Smith didn't reveal exactly what Jordan said, but it's great to see the 23XI owner and one of the greatest athletes of all time, sticking up for NASCAR drivers on this one.
