23XI Racing co-owner Michael Jordan laughed off multiple claims made by NASCAR during a court hearing this week.

23XI Racing, along with Front Row Motorsports, are currently embroiled in an antitrust lawsuit against the stock car racing series having decided to sue them last October after refusing to sign the new Cup Series charter agreement.

At the time, 23XI alleged that NASCAR had employed anti-competitive practices to prevent fair competition in the sport, with Jordan himself claiming that the current way the sport is run is 'unfair' to teams, sponsors, drivers and fans.

Since last October, NASCAR and the teams have gone back and forth on several major issues, with mediation having taken place this month ahead of the trial, set to start on December 1, to see if a settlement could be reached.

Jordan amused by NASCAR claims

After two days of mediation, no settlement was agreed, and as a result, it was back to the courtroom on Thursday to debate summary judgments being made in the case.

Jordan was present for the hearing, and the NBA icon was unimpressed by what he was hearing from NASCAR's attorney.

Although he issued no statement afterwards, as he has done at a previous court appearance, Jordan's reaction in court said it all. According to ESPN, "Jordan multiple times laughed and smiled at NASCAR's claims."

Denny Hamlin - current Cup Series driver and title contender who is a co-owner of 23XI - was also present in court and had a similar reaction at times, reportedly shaking his head at one point when NASCAR's attorney argued that the stock car racing series pays its teams a higher percentage of revenue than F1 does.

23XI attorney statement

After the court appearance, Jeffrey Kessler, attorney for 23XI and FRM issued the following statement, as defiant as ever ahead of the December court date.

"My clients' goal has always been to provide opportunities for growth and stability for every team and they remain steadfast advocates for a fairer, stronger sport," Kessler said.

"Today's hearing confirmed the facts of NASCAR's monopolistic practices and showed NASCAR for who they are - retaliatory bullies who would rather focus on personal attacks and distract from the facts.

"My clients have never been more united and committed to ensuring a fair and competitive sport for all teams, partners, drivers and fans.

"We're going to trial to hold NASCAR accountable."
