NASCAR star Brad Keselowski agrees with one of his drivers that RFK Racing is on the cusp of being a dangerous proposition in the Cup Series.

Keselowski is in the unique position of both co-owning and driving full-time for the same NASCAR team, and so far this season, RFK's results have been solid.

Chris Buescher, for example, has three top-10s under his belt so far, as does Keselowski, who has also finished in the top five twice in the opening eight races. Ryan Preece has two top-10 finishes under his belt heading to Kansas, too.

Those results see all three drivers occupying spots that would see them qualify for The Chase following Sunday's race at Bristol Motor Speedway, with Buescher 10th, Keselowski 11th, and Preece 14th.

That makes them the only team to have all of their cars inside the top 16 at present, but they're not satisfied with just that.

Brad Keselowski on RFK Racing progress

Speaking ahead of last weekend's action, Keselowski was quizzed on comments made by Buescher that had reportedly stated he believed RFK was one step away from being 'dangerous'.

Keselowski concurred, and what he said next would have put the rest of the Cup Series garage on notice.

“We seem to be a little faster," Keselowski told the media. "There are a couple areas that are opportunities that we have yet to be able to grasp.

"But I would agree with his assessment that we’re right on the cusp of making that happen.

"His team in particular has been so very strong, so consistent. They qualify well. They’re great on pit road, so just a step of pace and they could win a lot of races.”

Buescher: How do we go from Chase to Championship contender?

Just a snippet of comments from Buescher makes clear both the expectations that the team has, and also their intentions.

"When we went into this season with the Chase format back, in our minds there’s no doubt that we’re gonna be able to make ourselves a Chase contender," he said.

"It’s how do we make ourselves a championship contender?”
