NASCAR legend Dale Earnhardt Jr. has revealed he would love to see Jeff Gordon make a stunning return.
Gordon retired from full-time NASCAR racing at the end of the 2015 season, and last raced in the Cup Series a decade ago, having won four championships and 93 races in the sport's elite division.
These days, he remains heavily involved in the sport as Vice Chairman at Hendrick Motorsports, but Earnhardt Jr. says that he would love to see the 54-year-old back out on track one more time.

Dale Earnhardt Jr: I'd love to see Jeff Gordon return to NASCAR
Speaking on his Dale Jr. Download podcast, Earnhardt Jr. was quizzed on which former Cup stars he would like to see make a one off return, with Gordon the first name he came out with.
“The list of that is everybody who’s retired,” Earnhardt Jr. said. “Jeff Gordon, God, I’d love to see Jeff Gordon run another race.
“I'll be honest, when Dad and Jeff were racing on the racetrack, I didn't like Jeff because he was beating Dad, he could beat Dad.
“[Then] we became teammates, got to know each other better had a lot of laughs, and had a lot of great times together. He's a big part of what they're doing at HMS [Hendrick Motorsports], and so we [JR Motorsports] work with him through that relationship.
“Every chance I get, I rib him about running one more race, and I got great cars, man. We'd have so much fun. He has no interest.”

Why isn't Jeff Gordon interested?
Looking at recent comments made by the four-time champion, it could be that he simply wouldn't enjoy racing in the current generation of cars.
Speaking on First Things First at Daytona International Speedway earlier this month ahead of the Daytona 500, Gordon revealed that he was glad he hung up his racing boots a long time ago.
“I'm glad I'm not racing today, and I’ll tell you why,” the NASCAR legend explained. “Because the driver has so many things happening.
“They're saving fuel. Don't give up this track position. There's a line coming on the outside. There's a line coming on the inside.
“There's just so much information that they're being fed that I think it would be overload.”
While you can never say never - who would have thought we'd see Tony Stewart in a Truck Series race this year? - It does seem as though Earnhardt's desire to see Gordon have one last dance is unlikely to become a reality.
