NASCAR legend Dale Earnhardt Jr. has scolded his podcast producer for a controversial take on the Hall of Fame.

Located in Charlotte, North Carolina, the Hall of Fame honors the history and heritage of the sport, creating a lasting tribute to the drivers, crew members, team owners, and others who have impacted the sport in both the past and present.

Typically, three new members are inducted into the Hall of Fame each year, with Kurt Busch, Harry Gant and Ray Hendrick having had their names added as part of the class of 2026.

Earnhardt Jr. himself, meanwhile, was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2021.

Earnhardt Jr. scolds NASCAR Hall of Fame take

It's an important topic for many, including Earnhardt Jr., hence it was up for discussion on his Dale Jr. Download podcast this week, alongside his co-host TJ Majors, and producer Travis Rockhold.

The controversial debate came when Earnhardt Jr. asked Rockhold if Justin Allgaier, current driver of the No. 7 JR Motorsports Chevrolet in the NASCAR O’Reilly Auto Parts Series, was worthy of a spot in the Hall of Fame, along with others who have raced and done well outside of the Cup Series.

Rockhold argued no, stating that he didn’t think achievements in NASCAR’s second tier should count, and Earnhardt Jr. and Majors took major exception to this.

“Are you f***ing serious?” Earnhardt Jr. responded. “It’s the NASCAR Hall of Fame, not the NASCAR Cup Hall of Fame.”

“Wow,” he continued. “That is a pretty sh**ty take.”

Majors added: “Not everything works out perfect for everybody to get to the Cup Series.

“There’s still some great race car drivers that didn’t get great Cup rides to show what they could really do.”
