NASCAR legend and seven-time Cup Series champion Jimmie Johnson has made an intriguing addition to his 2026 racing schedule.

Johnson, who retired from full-time NASCAR racing at the end of the 2020 campaign, has already confirmed multiple appearances in the stock car racing series for this season, set to race in the Cup Series at Daytona next week and later in the year in San Diego, where he will also race in the Truck Series.

This week, however, the 50-year-old has confirmed he will also be doing some off-road racing this season, set to take part in the BF Goodrich Mint 400.

The race is scheduled for March 4-8 in Las Vegas and will drive the No. 84 for Terrible Herbst Motorsports with backing from Caravana.

Jimmie Johnson set for off-road return

“Off-road racing is where I learned how to race,” said Johnson in an official statement.

“The Mint 400 is raw, demanding, and unpredictable, and that’s what makes it special.

"To come back and do it with Carvana and a team like Terrible Herbst Motorsports, in a trick truck, is incredibly meaningful to me.”

Elsewhere, Terrible Herbst Motorsports team owner Troy Herbst added: “Jimmie Johnson represents excellence, adaptability, and credibility across every form of motorsport.

“The Mint 400 is an iconic event, and teaming up with Jimmie and Terrible Herbst Motorsports allows us to tell a powerful story about legacy, grit, and pushing limits in new environments.”
