NASCAR Cup Series star Ross Chastain looks set for a major change to his team ahead of the 2026 season.

That is according to RACER, who report that Chastain is set to have a new crew chief, namely Brandon McSwain.

Their report claims that McSwain, who is an engineer within William Byron's No. 24 team at Hendrick Motorsports, will get his first opportunity to crew chief full-time at Cup Series level next year, making the switch to Trackhouse Racing to do so.

The signing is expected to be announced at the end of the season and after Sunday's championship race at Phoenix.

Chastain-Surgen relationship set to end

If McSwain is to crew chief for Chastain heading into next season, it brings an end to his current relationship with Phil Surgen.

Surgen has worked with Chastain since 2021, when they were both at Chip Ganassi Racing, and joined Trackhouse when they acquired the NASCAR operation of Ganassi at the end of that year, expanding to a two-car operation for 2022.

During their time working together, Surgen and Chastain have won a total of six races, including May's Coca-Cola 600, and also made the Championship 4 in 2022.

On that occasion, Chastain lost out to Joey Logano, who won the race whilst the Trackhouse Racing star could only manage third.
