NASCAR has brought the hammer down hard on Ryan Preece after his Cup Series beef with Ty Gibbs boiled over in Texas on Sunday.
The RFK Racing star has been fined $50,000 and docked 25 driver points after the on-track incidents which lit up the Wurth 400 at Texas Motor Speedway.
Preece vs Gibbs gave us two main acts and the first was merely a warmup as a raging Ryan warned us of what was to come in an angry radio message.

Preece vs Ty Gibbs Part 1, an angry ‘rant’
"Alright, when I get to that 54 I'm done with him," fumed Preece as he looked to get on terms with Ty in his No. 60 Ford.
If you want the full transcript, with even Ryan himself calling it a ‘rant’, here it is - completely unfiltered:
"Alright when I get to that 54 I'm done with him. F***ing idiot. That car is so f***ing fast, p***es me off. I’m gonna vent for 15 seconds. I can't stand when idiots like him have fast race cars where they can do stupid s*** and get away with it. End of rant."
Part 2, Ty wrecked and race over for Gibbs
That was just act one, there was more to come as Ty’s day ended on Lap 101 when he slid into the barrier and ultimately out of the race. Preece, of course, was in very close proximity at the time.
It's still not entirely clear whether Ryan actually made contact, with replays simply showing that the pair were line astern when Gibbs veered into the outside wall.
Whether they did or not, Preece is now paying the price for that spicy chain of events after NASCAR confirmed postrace sanctions late Tuesday. The brass in Charlotte handed down that $50,000 and a 25-point penalty for what it termed 'Behavioral' infractions.
What Preece and Gibbs said postrace
We got to find out what both drivers thought of the controversial events after the checkered flag fell, and Preece could not have been more raw as he spoke with media.
He told Frontstretch: "I’ll be honest with you. I hate that he wrecked, but decisions you make on the race track, there are repercussions. And I try to race everybody with an amount of respect that I’d like in return.
"And when you don’t do that, I’m not gonna cut you a break. And that’s what happened."
Gibbs meanwhile reposted a transcript of Preece's earlier message on social media, adding: "Hmm, at least he is honest."
