NASCAR and IndyCar action is taking place at the same venue once again this weekend, and it turns out Team Penske star Ryan Blaney is a fan.

Last weekend in St. Petersburg, IndyCar was supported by the NASCAR Truck Series, and this time around, IndyCar is racing at Phoenix Raceway on Saturday ahead of the O'Reilly Auto Parts Series later on in the evening, and Sunday's Cup Series action.

The last time that the two series raced with one another prior to this was at Indianapolis Motor Speedway in 2023, but Blaney wants to see NASCAR take part in more of these joint events.

Ryan Blaney on NASCAR and IndyCar double-header

“Personally, yeah, I would love it," Blaney said, via Frontstretch Open Wheel.

"I think it’s great for just the racing fan. Like, I never really understood people who are like, 'I only watch NASCAR or I only watch IndyCar, or vice versa'.

"It’s like, if you’re a fan of racing, you’re a fan of racing. And this just brings everybody together.

“I think the crowd for both days is going to be fantastic just because it’s a double-header weekend.

"So yeah, I would love to see more double-headers just because I like hanging out with those guys and watching them. It’s easier for me to watch than on TV if they’re here."

Pato O'Ward disagrees

While Blaney is a fan, not everybody else is, including IndyCar title challenger Pato O'Ward.

Speaking on the weekend last month, the McLaren driver said: "I think it's a good thing, [but] I’m sick and tired of IndyCar being the support race.

"I mean [it's great] for the fans, not for us."
