With the NASCAR Cup Series season having ended at Phoenix on November 2nd, most drivers have been enjoying a well-earned break after the grueling 36-race schedule.

Not Austin Cindric, though. Instead, the Team Penske star is currently in Australia taking part in the Supercars grand finale in Adelaide.

The Columbus, Ohio native has swapped his No. 2 Team Penske Ford for the No. 5 at Tickford Racing for three races, the first of which has already been held.

How did Cindric do in Supercars debut?

Cindric was forced to contend with very difficult conditions in the weekend opener on Friday, with heavy rain falling and having a massive influence on the race.

In fact, due to the wet, Supercars driver Thomas Randle aquaplaned into the wall at the infamous Adelaide Turn 8, which brought out the red flag on lap 32.

With just 12 laps to go, things never got going again, but with more than 50% of the action completed, the race result stood with full points awarded.

With Randle not classified after his wreck, Cindric officially finished the race in 23rd out of the 25 drivers that entered.

"My first supercars race was wet," Cindric reflected on Tickford Racing's social media post-race. "I think that's kind of the extent of it. I didn't finish last, but yeah, obviously a lot is going on.

"The first standing start was also done in the rain. Conveniently, the guy in front of me decided to stall, so that got pretty involved. Followed the queue around for a while, kind of figured out the limit.

“About lap five or six we were in, and a lot of the cars in front of me kind of pitted, so I had to track myself for a while and kind of learned the tire. Then it kind of started raining again, then it really started raining again, and we had that red flag. So the Armor All Repco Ford Mustang is in one piece."

Cindric 'mildly satisfied' with debut

The Team Penske star continued, revealing that he was content with his debut, but that he hoped to ramp things up as the event progressed.

“We still have two races left on the weekend. Today was a good day to really learn, but yeah, I want to keep spoiling it up throughout the weekend," Cindric explained.

"I would say I'm mildly satisfied with today, but yeah, like I said, I want to keep improving."

Cindric went on to finish the second, 78-lap Supercars race in 23rd once again on Saturday.
