NASCAR star Daniel Suarez believes that Cup Series driver meetings are a total waste of time.
Drivers' meetings take place across all NASCAR series at every single race weekend and are mandatory for those taking part in each event.
In these sessions, NASCAR outlines any track-specific rules that are in place for that particular track, as well as informs the drivers on safety protocols and race procedures. In theory, this is designed to help minimize misunderstandings that could lead to incidents or penalties during the race.
However, Suarez suggests that it's a waste of time because the drivers do not actually end up listening to what the NASCAR officials are saying.

Suarez on NASCAR Cup Series driver meetings
Asked by The Athletic's Jeff Gluck what the pettiest thing that annoys him during a race weekend, the Mexican star singled out the meetings, arguing that it has 'run its course'.
"It doesn’t annoy me, but the drivers’ meeting, in my opinion, has kind of run its course," Suarez explained.
"It’s a waste of time, to be honest. Nobody’s watching the TV (where NASCAR plays the rules video), nobody’s listening.
"If they want to do a meeting, let’s do a meeting. If they want to do a meet-and-greet with people, then meet-and-greet with people. Right now, it’s kind of half and half.
"Elton Sawyer, I love him, but he always says exactly the same thing (after the video plays). The drivers’ meeting is not really a “drivers’ meeting.”
