Two drivers are set to return to the NASCAR Truck Series this week at Nashville, after being absent for several weeks.

Carson Ferguson will make his second appearance in the Kaulig Racing No. 25 free agent truck, becoming the second driver to repeat behind the wheel of that particular truck this year.

Dirt racer Ferguson earned his first shot with the team at Bristol last month thanks to his performances on their Race for the Seat show (won by Mini Tyrrell), finishing a creditable 21st at the short track.

He will be joined on the grid by former Kaulig truck driver Daniel Dye, whose association with the team and full-time contract ended after Dye was suspended for making homophobic comments in reference to IndyCar driver David Malukas on a livestream earlier this year.

Dye set for Truck return

After being reinstated by NASCAR in mid-April, around a month after his suspension, Dye left his role at Kaulig.

His statement upon leaving Kaulig post-suspension read: “After a lot of honest self-reflection and guidance from mentors I trust, I’ve decided the smartest move for my career is to realign my focus on my long-term objective of becoming a successful driver at the highest level of stock car racing."

That realignment, it seems, involved running a Cup Series race within weeks and announcing his return to the Truck Series with McAnally-Hilgemann Racing inside two months. He currently has four races scheduled with that team.

Ferguson hails Nashville 'honor'

In a statement on Tuesday, Ferguson said: “I am a dirt racer who always watched NASCAR on television and dreamed of this opportunity. Bristol was a dream come true. I learned so much at that amazing place, and it was a blast.

“Nashville Superspeedway is almost three times as big as Bristol, so it’s another huge learning curve, but I’ll give it everything I’ve got. It’s an honor to get back in the No. 25 Ram 1500.”
