Richard Childress Racing is an organization steeped in NASCAR history, and success.

Founded in 1969 by the man himself Richard Childress, RCR has racked up six NASCAR Cup Series driver titles in a storied resume. But there is a caveat here - that all happened a long time ago.

Right now the team is struggling with legend of the sport Kyle Busch down the field and way off the brilliance which saw him capture two titles in a previous life at Joe Gibbs Racing.

Those six titles for the Childress operation all came between 1986 and 1994 in a glorious run of success - three times in that period the team won back-to-back championships. All courtesy of the legendary Dale Earnhardt Sr.

RCR has also had significant success in more recent years in the O’Reilly Auto Parts Series (formerly the Xfinity Series) with six titles there as well. Jesse Love is the reigning champion after a victorious 2025 campaign.

The aforementioned Busch (No. 8 Chevrolet) and Austin Dillon (No. 3 car) will spearhead RCR’s bid to return to relevance in 2026, and Kyle will have a new crew chief with Jim Pohlman replacing Randall Burnett. Now we wait to see if the glory days return.
