Cleetus McFarland has once again opened up on his ultimate aim in NASCAR following his O'Reilly Series race at Nashville Superspeedway.

It was another difficult outing for the YouTube sensation in NASCAR's second tier, with multiple errors, spins, and penalties on the way to his 35th-place finish.

Still, it was another day of huge learning for the YouTube sensation, which he will no doubt look to carry into this weekend at Michigan, where he is driving the No. 4 for Niece Motorsports in the Truck Series.

Ahead of that next race, Cleetus made an appearance on this week's edition of the Door Bumper Clear podcast in which he touched on several topics, including what his long-term ambition in the sport is.

Cleetus McFarland's ultimate NASCAR goal

Asked if it was the Daytona 500, something he had shared previously, Cleetus' answer suggested it was more about the process than one end result.

“When I set out with this with Greg Biffle, I called him up and I said, ‘Biff, I want to run to Daytona 500,’ and he's like laying it out for me. And I'm like, ‘Well damn, can’t I run that? What about next year? Could I run it if I ran ARCA this year?’ and he’s like, ‘No, that’s crazy and maybe the year after.’

“And I started running ARCA, and I realised, I have no intentions of running Cup or the Daytona 500 anytime soon because I would just get absolutely wrecked, literally. It's just a way bigger skill gap than I imagined, and I realised that immediately.”

Cleetus later continued: “Now, looking at the ultimate goal, It's to make the Daytona 500, but I'm having so much fun that I think it's gonna end up being more than that.

“One day I'll race the Daytona 500. I'm in no rush. But like now I'm really - I'm talking here with Squirrel [McNutt] here, and we're like, ‘We want to run full seasons of ARCA.’

“We want to just enjoy the hell out of the process and no rush.”
