NASCAR Cup Series star Christopher Bell has revealed that he's driving 'pretty much one-handed' after breaking his wrist last weekend at Michigan.

Officials confirmed this week that Bell's hit was the hardest recorded in at least a decade, and left the Joe Gibbs Racing star with a broken wrist and bruised foot.

The wreck occurred with about 50 laps remaining, Bell and Chase Elliott racing side by side in second and third position when Elliott's No. 9 got slightly out of shape in Turn 3 before snapping sharply right, making contact with Bell on the inside and sending the No. 20 violently into the SAFER barrier.

Bell is already back behind the wheel this weekend at Pocono though, with Brandon Jones available as a potential replacement if he cannot complete the 400-mile race distance.

Bell: Upcoming races will be difficult

Speaking to the media about his injury before practice and qualifying on Saturday, he explained: “From what I’ve been told, it’s pretty much just a normal broken bone. So, under normal circumstances, they would say six weeks. I would expect me to be in a cast for a period of time.

"I’m really glad that I didn’t have any displaced bones, so I didn’t have to have surgery, which was awesome, but yeah, I’m going to take it week-by-week. Obviously, I’ll be wanting to get out of the cast as quickly as I can.

"I think my group of doctors are all along the same lines to make sure that I’m healed up as much as possible, but obviously as quick as possible as well. Right now, I’m pretty much driving the car one-handed. I can kind of hold the wheel a little bit, I think enough to shift.

"Shifting on the straightaways here at Pocono is, I think it’s going to be doable. The road courses, specifically San Diego, like there’s a couple corners that you have to shift in. I think turn one at Sonoma is going to be difficult. I hope for more healing before we get to those tracks for sure.”
