NASCAR O'Reilly Series star Justin Allgaier has officially punched his ticket to the Chase with seven regular season races to go.

The JR Motorsports veteran won his fifth race of the year on Saturday at Pocono to become the first driver in any of NASCAR's three national series to qualify for the revamped postseason.

That win, combined with early exits from Jesse Love and Corey Day, puts Allgaier 250 points clear of his nearest challenger at the top of the standings and a scarcely believable 413 points clear of the playoff cut-line.

While the eagle-eyed among you will spot that 413 points can just about be overhauled in seven races, there isn't a scenario in which all 12 drivers behind Allgaier can amass enough points to pass him, with NASCAR confirming that Saturday's result guarantees him a postseason berth.

Allgaier: We'll celebrate this one

A chaotic race saw the caution flag fly ten times over the 100-lap distance, including the final one which set up a two-lap shootout at the end for the victory.

“First of all," Allgaier said after the race, "I’ve got to say thank you to William Byron because without his shove at the end of the race, it was probably game over."

He continued: “This season has been special with [crew chief] Andrew Overstreet and this whole number seven team and this pit crew right here. We’re going to go celebrate this one for sure.”
