Two NASCAR Cup Series teams have today revealed special tributes they will be running on their cars in honor of Greg Biffle.

The NASCAR community has been mourning the former Busch and Truck Series champion ever since he and six others, including his wife Cristina and their children Emma and Ryder, died in a horrific plane crash in North Carolina last month.

A memorial was held for all victims of the awful incident in Charlotte last week, and now, ahead of the new NASCAR season getting underway, RFK Racing and Kaulig Racing have revealed tributes of their own.

Greg Biffle NASCAR car tributes

Of course, the R in RFK stands for Roush, and it's where Biffle started his NASCAR journey in the Truck Series when they were known simply as Roush Racing in 1998.

Biffle went on to remain with the team until 2016, having initially moved up the ranks to the O'Reilly Auto Parts [then Busch] Series, followed by another promotion to the Cup Series, where he raced a total of 515 times.

To honor that fact, starting at next weekend's Clash exhibition race, RFK will begin a season-long tribute to their former star, with a circular memorial decal set to be on their car at every race this season that reads 'The Biff' followed by 'In loving memory of Greg Biffle' with his iconic number 16 in between.

On top of that, RFK Racing will also run the font of that famous No. 16 on all four of their entries at this year's Daytona 500.

“Greg Biffle was more than a championship driver, he was family,” said RFK Racing co-owner Brad Keselowski. “He helped shape who we are as an organization, and his legacy is woven into this team’s history.

"Returning to the iconic numeric font that defined so much of his career, and adding the season-long decal to each car, are meaningful ways for us to honor Greg and carry his spirit.

"We can’t bring him back, but we can honor him on the track the best way we know how, all season long.”

Elsewhere, Kaulig Racing is also set to carry that distinctive font for the Daytona 500, with their driver, AJ Allmendinger, currently driving the No. 16 in the Cup Series.

“Greg Biffle made the No. 16 famous and was a true friend to Kaulig Racing and the whole racing community,” said Kaulig Racing Chief Executive Officer Chris Rice.

“This is our way of honoring his incredible career and the person he was. When AJ Allmendinger drives this car at Daytona, we hope fans remember Greg, his family, and all the great memories he gave us.”
