NASCAR Clash: Every winner from Buddy Baker to Chase Elliott

First taking place in 1979, NASCAR's Clash has long been the traditional curtain-raising exhibition race for the new season and the Daytona 500.

For so much of its history, this saw the Clash take place at Daytona International Speedway, although in more recent years, we have seen it shift firstly to the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum and now to Bowman Gray Stadium.

In the first Clash at Bowman Gray, Hendrick Motorsports star Chase Elliott etched his name onto the long list of NASCAR stars to have won the race, totally dominating his rivals and leading for 171 of the 200 racing laps. Chase followed in the footsteps of his father, Bill Elliott, who won the Clash in 1987.

NASCAR icon Dale Earnhardt is the most winningest driver when it comes to the Clash, taking a total of six victories in the event during his career. Current Cup Series star Denny Hamlin sits second in that regard, with four Clash victories under his belt.

Hamlin's four victories have also helped Joe Gibbs Racing be the most successful team in the Clash, with the organization having 17 wins - 10 more than their nearest rivals Hendrick Motorsports.
