On the race track, the late great Kyle Busch built a reputation as one of NASCAR’s fiercest competitors, leaving behind a legacy that will live on for generations. Incredibly, he did the same off track, too.
The emotional outpouring since Busch's sudden passing at the age of 41 on Thursday has been immense, and quite rightly, there has been a big focus on the statistics.
Across NASCAR's three national series, Busch made 1313 starts in total, winning 234 races (an all-time record), 63 of which came in the sport's elite division, the Cup Series. Naturally, so many victories led to multiple championships, with Busch winning the Cup Series in 2015 and 2019, and the O'Reilly Series (then Nationwide Series) in 2009.
Such was Busch's greatness, there is already talk of NASCAR waiving its Hall of Fame eligibility rules so he can be inducted into the Class of 2027. And yet, despite all of that, the biggest impact Busch made, along with his wife Samantha, might have been, and continue to be, elsewhere.
Samantha and Kyle Busch's Bundle of Joy Fund
The Samantha and Kyle Busch Bundle of Joy Fund was founded in 2015 and focuses on a cause very close to the couple's hearts.
The Busch's struggled with infertility for years before welcoming their first child, son Brexton, in May 2015 following successful IVF treatment. From that moment on, Kyle and Samantha became proud, fierce, public ambassadors and fundraisers for those families experiencing what they had gone through.
After more devastating setbacks, including two heartbreaking miscarriages, Kyle and Samantha went on to welcome their second child, daughter Lennix, in 2022. But, having seen firsthand the financial challenges of infertility - $15-20K for IVF, $10K+ for egg retrieval, $8K+ for medication, and so on - following Brexton's birth, Kyle and Samantha had taken action long before.
"Our journey was long and painful - six rounds of IVF, multiple miscarriages, failed cycles, and countless moments of heartbreak," Samantha recalls on the Bundle of Joy website. "We faced a rollercoaster of hope and devastation that so many families know all too well. Through it all, we held onto faith, each other, and the belief that somehow, someday, God would turn our pain into purpose.
"We also experienced the staggering financial burden as a result of infertility treatments. One day, sitting in the waiting room of our fertility clinic, we overheard another couple say that money was the only thing standing between them and the chance for a baby. In that moment, Kyle and I looked at each other and knew God was planting a seed in our hearts - a calling to take action."
In an interview on Today in April 2025, Kyle reiterated the above: "When we had to go through our trials and tribulations of having to go through IVF to have Brexton, we recognised not only the financial burdens of everyone that they have to go through, but of course, the emotional struggles that couples face as well going through that, and so we started the Bundle of Joy Fund for awareness, as well as for fundraising."

111 babies born, and counting
The work that Samantha and Kyle have done under the umbrella of The Bundle of Joy Fund has been nothing short of incredible.
So far, 178 grants totalling almost $2.4 million have been awarded to families across the United States, with 111 babies born directly as a result of the treatment the fund paid for. Remarkable.
"After six years of trying to conceive, three failed private adoptions, and one amazing foundation we finally became parents," one family who received a Bundle of Joy Fund grant wrote on their website. "Thank you to The Bundle of Joy Fund for the amazing gift you granted us. We don't know where we would be without our son, Elijah."
"The Bundle of Joy Fund forever changed our lives," another family testimonial reads. "We were given hope in a time where we were completely hopeless. We will be forever grateful for The Bundle of Joy Fund and the family we have gained through this experience.”
NASCAR fans donate thousands
Following Kyle's passing, with Samantha as its driving force, the Bundle of Joy Fund will continue to change the lives of families across the country, and there will continue to be more stories like the above thanks to her and Kyle.
And, if recent days are anything to go by, many in the NASCAR community will be right behind it.
Following news of Kyle's passing on Thursday, an army of dedicated fans have donated in their thousands to the Bundle of Joy Fund, many of them titled in honor of the two-time Cup Series champion.
A sizeable chunk of these have been made in amounts of eight, 18 or different iterations of those numbers, in dollars, honoring Kyle's two most recent racing numbers in the Cup Series, and if our calculations are correct, donations are now deep into the tens of thousands.
Kyle Busch legacy will live on for generations
Ultimately, Kyle Busch’s legacy will not only be defined by his wins or his championships in NASCAR, but also by the lives and families he helped create.
Through the Bundle of Joy Fund, Kyle and Samantha have turned years of personal heartbreak and pain into something special, giving families a chance they otherwise might not have had. For countless parents, that support meant hope in their darkest moments. For 111 children, and counting, it has meant the chance to live at all.
It's right to say that Kyle's legacy on the track will live on for generations to come, but his and Samantha's work through the Bundle of Joy Fund is arguably even more important.
That's because while for many of us, racing dominates our existence, Kyle's passing is a tragic but important reminder of just how precious life really is, and that we must never ever take it for granted.
