Former NASCAR driver Kyle Petty has suggested Team Penske needs to make radical changes to Ryan Blaney's pit crew as their disastrous 2026 season continues.

Despite Team Penske and Ford's wider lack of pace, Blaney is having a great season in the No. 12, currently sitting third in the Cup Series standings through the first 12 races of the year.

However, if Blaney is to go on and win the championship, his pit crew needs to clean up their mistakes on pit road, which have cost him greatly so far this season.

Team Penske has made a couple of changes to the No. 12 roster in a bid to fix this in recent weeks, but the issue reared its head again at the Coca Cola 600 on Sunday.

Kyle Petty on Ryan Blaney's pit road struggles

Now, speaking on this weekend's episode of Inside The Race, Petty has questioned why Team Penske hasn't resolved the issue yet and suggested that it might be time to take a drastic step to do so.

“We refer to this as the Penske organization, not the Penske race team. It's the Penske organization. How many races into the season are we? Why hasn't it been fixed?” Petty questioned.

“It's been an issue since the second or third race of the year. It's been two and a half months, three months that we've had an issue with this car.

“Sometimes you do have to just wipe the slate clean and say, ‘Send me in six more.’”

McMurray: Blaney deserves credit

Jamie McMurray also weighed in, praising Blaney for his temperament over the radio despite everything that's been happening.

“You’ve got to give Ryan Blaney a ton of credit, and I'll use [Kevin] Harvick as my example,” Bowyer said.

“I can't say the words. I mean, he was brutal with those pit crews, and they would just change people and it never got better and he really never had a great pit crew because he would just kick them in the nuts every time something would happen.

"Ryan has done a pretty good job, I think. Whether he thinks it and just doesn't key the radio or he's just like, ‘It's gonna be okay,’ he's done a nice job of not making this situation worse.”
