It's been a whirlwind of a NASCAR offseason, hasn't it? 23XI Racing reached a court settlement with the sport, Brad Keselowski broke his leg, there's a new championship format, and that's all barely scratching the surface.

Meanwhile, Ryan Blaney now has a family llama. Yeah, not quite as high stakes as the other stuff, is it?

The 2023 Cup Series champion has had an offseason of little quirks and sidequests, as opposed to the very serious stuff going on around him. For example, he now has an absolutely massive moustache which he admits makes it very hard to eat wings. Sounds inconvenient, looks magnificent.

He also, as we mentioned, has a llama at home now. He's called Kuzco, and Blaney filmed a short video explaining why on earth that's a sentence that we can actually write.

Blaney debunks llama farmer drama

“We’ve been getting a lot of questions about why we got a llama ever since we brought him home. His name is Kuzco, after the Emperor’s New Groove, obviously. And he protects our three little Nigerian dwarf goats, which is what these little babies are. So he is an awesome male, six years old.

“They are great livestock guardians, gathering small herds and stuff like that. If a fox or a coyote get in here, they’re going to have a very bad day and not make it out the other end, so that’s why we got him. He’s super friendly. He’s a really good boy.

“He’s awesome and fun fact about him: their toes are like little daggers, so that’s kind of how they stomp out the coyotes and foxes and stuff like that. He’s incredibly friendly, doesn’t spit – a lot of people think llamas spit, and that’s because if you see them in petting zoos and they get handfed all the time, and with a bunch of other times, they get mad you’re not feeding them all the time.

“But he loves hanging out and protecting our little ones, so thanks for the question, hope this was informative.”
