A NASCAR-produced documentary filmed at Millbridge Speedway in North Carolina is set for its official release today.
An original feature-length documentary produced by NASCAR Studios, 'Kid Racers' promises to capture one of the rawest, electric, and little-known corners of American motorsports at the Salisbury-based track.
The documentary is set to focus on and follow five families and their children, aged between eight and nine years old, as they chase their racing dreams on the red clay that Millbridge is so famous for.
These are the five young drivers set to feature:
- Tanner Tucker, the fierce 2022 season champion carrying his father’s unfinished NASCAR dream.
- Giselle Hicks, a fourth-generation racer learning to rise above doubt in a male-dominated class.
- Jackson Darnell, the analytical “nicest guy on the track,” with the instincts of a future broadcaster.
- Gabe Yacono, the track’s beloved sportsman, racing for the joy and community it brings.
- Chase DeMarco, a multi-talented racer and diehard fan overcoming late-season setbacks.

Documentary captures the 'heart' of racing
Speaking as part of the announcement, NASCAR's Senior Vice President of Content, John Dahl, stated that the documentary effectively captures the spirit and heart of stock car racing.
“‘Kid Racers’ shines a light on one of the most authentic and emotionally charged corners of our sport," he explained.
"Where passion is born, families rally together, and the next generation of NASCAR talent takes shape.
“This documentary captures the heart of our sport, and we’re proud to debut it on The NASCAR Channel.”
Interestingly, NASCAR's announcement also promised that the young drivers are set to race against some famous names in the documentary, with the likes of Kyle Busch and Kyle Larson seeing their children compete at Millbridge as they chase their own racing dreams.
Busch's son, Brexton (10), is an up-and-coming racer who could therefore feature in the documentary at some stage, as is Larson's son, Owen (10).
The film debuts Wednesday, Dec. 17, at 7pm ET, airing live and exclusively on The NASCAR Channel.
