Sometimes it's difficult to separate truth from fiction when it comes to the great Carson Hocevar, and this NBA Finals story definitely falls into that category.

The 23-year-old from Portage, Michigan is the hottest thing in NASCAR right now, a cult hero who is winning fans off the track and collecting bitter rivals on it.

Hocevar has been great for the sport, both with his ability to drive a Spire Motorsports Toyota very very fast, and also with his IDGAF attitude to life. He is happy to take shots at himself, and never takes himself seriously.

The latest example came over the weekend with 'Hurricane' claiming on his social media channels that he drove two hours to New York's Madison Square Garden to watch the Knicks face the San Antonio Spurs in Game 5 of the NBA Finals.

Of course the only problem with that grand plan was the fact Game 5 was actually taking place down in the great state of Texas, some 1824 miles south.

Hocevar gets 'clowned' for NBA Finals fail

Hocevar spoke about the alleged faux pas and told his fans on Twitch: "Everybody might have been clowning on me for driving two hours to Madison Square Garden not realizing the game was in San Antonio for Game 5 of the NBA Finals."

While Hocevar took the shots the way he always does - with a smile - he did manage to use the whole sorry episode to ref his favourite thing in the world - Chili's.

He added: "But what they can't clown on me for is not everybody has a Gold Chili's card."

So Hocevar remained a happy sports fan more than a thousand miles north as the Knicks claimed their first world title in 53 years with a 94-90 victory in Game 5.

He still has his GOLD Chili's card, and that is all that really matters in life.
