A 2025 NASCAR championship contender has won a notable post-season race, after being denied at Phoenix last weekend.

Kaden Honeycutt fought for the Truck Series championship against Corey Heim, Ty Majeski and Tyler Ankrum in the Championship race at the start of the month, but could only secure third place in the championship.

Honeycutt was back in action this weekend at South Boston Speedway for the State Water Heaters Krush 250 presented by Rogers Heating and Cooling Late in the Model Stock Car Division.

The Truck Series star also won the event last year, but took this year's race in a green-white-checker finish.

Honeycutt hails post-season win

“It’s amazing,” Honeycutt said, after going back-to-back in the race.

“Jeb and Ward [Burton] and everyone that puts this race on is really, really good at what they do. They promoted it extremely well, and had a great crowd tonight. It’s an amazing race in front of a crowd like this.”

Honeycutt passed Bobby McCarty on the first lap of the second overtime period for the win, and said later: “I definitely couldn’t have gotten a better restart than that. We raced really hard into (turns) one and two, barely hit each other, barely tapped, and went into the third turn. I think he got into the speedy dry and got tight.

“I appreciate him racing me really clean,” he added. “He’s a class-act guy. I love Bobby to death.”
