Winning the NASCAR Cup Series championship in 2023 has been the highlight of Ryan Blaney's career so far, but he hasn't even kept possession of his title-winning trophy.

The Team Penske star finished second in the championship race at Phoenix that year, higher than his championship four rivals Kyle Larson, William Byron and Christopher Bell.

As a result, Blaney proudly lifted the Bill France Cup, but rather than put it in his home and have it to look at and admire every day, he decided to do something different.

Ryan Blaney on where he keeps championship trophy

Speaking on the Racin’ With The Boys podcast, Blaney was quizzed on who gets to keep the championship-winning trophy when a NASCAR driver wins one, and then, where he keeps his.

“The owner gets one, I get one,” Blaney explained. “And then there’s a replica out there that they take to events and stuff.

“But mine right now is actually in my crew chief's office. I gave him; my dad made a big, awesome stand for it [with a] bunch of pictures of all the guys from that year, so it’s sitting in his office still. I don’t know if I’m gonna get it back.”

Blaney continued, explaining why he decided to do that: “They're part of it, right, and his office sits like right where the car is kind of getting finished up, where all the guys can see it; they can see into his office and see that trophy.

“So I want them to be able to share in it, too. I mean, what am I gonna do with it in my house?

"Those guys were just as big a part of it as I was, so they should be able to see that every day and be able to relive those memories.”
