If you ever wondered just how much a superstar NASCAR driver earns, now we know thanks to that high-profile court case happening down in Charlotte.

It is the trial of the century as the sport defends an antitrust case brought by the 23XI Racing team and Front Row Motorsports.

The trial, which got under way on Monday, has a ton of added spice thanks to the fact 23XI is co-owned by basketball legend Michael Jordan and current superstar driver Denny Hamlin.

The 45-year-old Hamlin spent a total of four hours on the stand during Monday and Tuesday - including three hours of cross-examination.

Obviously that cross-examination went into great depth about Hamlin’s association with 23XI Racing and his relationship with NASCAR.

How much does Denny Hamlin earn?

It also touched on how much he earns as probably the most high-profile driver on the grid today - he reached 60 Cup Series race wins in 2025 despite once again missing out on a championship.

Denny confirmed during questioning that he earns a total of $14million annually from his contract with Joe Gibbs Racing, where he has enjoyed terrific success down the years.

Even once Hamlin had left the stand, the drama was not over. He continued to post messages on social media during Tuesday evening and into the early hours of Wednesday. Despite apparently being told not to by lawyers for 23XI and Front Row.

He wrote: “My lawyers don’t want me to tweet, Or X or whatever this is, but they are asleep. I just wanted to tell you that I love you guys and I will not stop fighting for you and what is right.”

The case continues on Wednesday, with 23XI and Front Row seeking significant changes for the future of the sport. Among other things, they are seeking $205million in damages. That would represent a 900 percent return on investment for 23XI.
