Corey Heim has hailed his crew chief Bootie Barker after winning his second NASCAR Cup Series race in three starts on Sunday.

Heim and the No. 67 team visited victory lane last month at Coronado Naval Base, and returned this past weekend after a brilliant drive at the Brickyard 400 at Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

The win is Heim's second in just 15 Cup Series starts, and his first crown jewel win, as he build momentum ahead of taking a full-time Cup seat for the first time next year with 23XI Racing.

Barker has been with the organization since 2021, originally coming in to crew chief for Bubba Wallace after Mike Wheeler was made the team's director of competition, but left the No. 23 team at the end of 2024 and became the crew chief of Heim's part-time No. 67 entry early the next year.

Heim: Having a crew chief you trust makes racing easier

Asked after his Brickyard win to describe his relationship with Barker, and whether the pair would continue to work together when he goes full-time next year, Heim said: "Bootie is the man, for sure. He’s awesome. One of the most liked if not the most liked people at 23XI.

"When he came off the full-time deal with Bubba, I knew he was going to be my part-time crew chief, I was [thinking] I hope he doesn’t feel distraught about getting off of a full-time deal or anything, has a lot of motivation. I quickly learned he does not let anything bother him. Super motivated, eyes forward guy, family man. Good person.

"To have our off-track relationship be really strong, then just to have faith he can execute a race as well as he has done this year, get us two wins so far, it’s not every day you get to go to the racetrack and have a comfort with a crew chief just knowing you can trust them with everything.

"I’ve had a lot of moments in my career where I feel like I doubted my crew chief a lot. That’s driver instinct. When you can find a guy that knows what they’re doing, you can trust them, it certainly makes it a lot easier."
