Corey Heim has shrugged off the recommencement of he and Carson Hocevar's rivalry at the Brickyard 400 on Sunday.

Hocevar was seen veering toward eventual race winner Heim with his middle finger raised out the window when the No. 67 went to pit road, a gesture which the young 23XI Racing star insisted after the race that he didn't see at the time.

Speaking on the TNT postrace show, Heim joked that he 'handed him a big fat L after that one', as the pair's long-running feud comes back to the boil.

Their antagonizm dates back to the Truck Series championship race back in 2023, when Hocevar spun Heim to spark a series of events which turned the event into a farce – which neither of them emerged victorious from.

Things ramped up again at Coronado last month when Heim spun Hocevar on his way to his first Cup Series win, with the pair taking a few joking-but-not-really-joking shots at each other on social media later.

Heim: You guys love talking about a guy who finished ninth...

Speaking after Sunday's race, Heim claimed he didn't do much do deserve Hocevar's ire on Sunday, saying: “I was blocking him, not really too bad, I thought. I mean, I was trying to just hold my position, and I never threw like a bad block. I was just trying to protect my entry, and he didn’t like it, but he lost and I won, so I don’t really care.”

He then asked the TNT crew where Hocevar finished and, when told that the answer was 'ninth', said: “Huh. You guys love talking about a guy who finished ninth. I mean, holy crap. Yeah, I mean, all I did was make sure he stayed behind me, and I did, and I finished in front of him.

"I don’t worry about a narrative or a genre. Like, he’s got a ton of talent, and he’s going to win a lot of races, and I’m focused on myself and trying to do the same. That’s really all there is to it.”

Hocevar, for his part, said after the race: “I’m just a fan, wanted to wave. He’s number one. He won. It’s fine. We don’t like each other, but we race really hard and his stuff’s super-fast, obviously.

"Yeah, the car he’s in, but he does a really, really good job with it. I’m looking forward to, when we get our stuff a little better, being in front of him, and maybe holding him off.”
