Hendrick Motorsports owner Rick Hendrick has revealed that he expects his team to have a stronger car in 2026.
General Motors have been working on a new body for their Chevrolet offering in the NASCAR Cup Series, with Hendrick revealing that the company's new offering is 'closer to what Toyota and Ford have'.
Hendrick's Kyle Larson took this year's championship thanks to a fortunate caution at Phoenix, but the No. 5 driver would also have taken the title in the old 36-race points system, suggesting that the offering from Chevy and GM is already a strong one.
The company have been notably cagey about the details of their new body shape, although NASCAR have confirmed that the design has been completed.
Hendrick: New body supposedly an improvement
Speaking to Fox Sports' Bob Pockrass, Hendrick revealed: “Our guys, along with GM have been working on this. It’s supposedly better than what we got. Closer to what Toyota and Ford have.
“They had a shot at the apple. Taking our car and getting their car better. So next year, I mean, we gotta learn the car. It wont be perfect right out of the gate.”
Hendrick provided two of the four cars in this year's championship race, alongside a pair from Joe Gibbs Racing, as the series transitions into a new playoff format for the 2026 season.
It's still to be seen how Chevy and GM's 2026 body will impact their performance, and the balance of power in the Cup Series next year.
