Two-time NASCAR Cup Series champion Kyle Busch has opened up on his recent struggles since moving to Richard Childress Racing in 2023.
Busch started fast with the historic team, winning three of his first 15 races, but hasn't won since – and remains on a career-long 93-race winless streak coming into the 2026 season.
The veteran driver admitted that his team has fallen behind its rivals when it comes to developing their cars, comparing them to Lego sets and insisting that development matters.
Busch goes into the first race of 2026 looking for his first ever win at the Daytona 500, a race win which has eluded him through a storied career spanning more than two decades.
Busch: We've lost this over time
Speaking on SiriusXM NASCAR Radio this weekend, the 40-year-old said: "Fast cars cure all. When I went to RCR, we went to Fontana, we won our second race. It's not that we can't do it. it's just that we have to be better than all the rest."
"I feel like at that time with RCR, having the experience and the know-how of developing this car, they were a little bit ahead of all of the rest of the teams of knowing what did what, knowing what changes did what."
"I just kind of feel like over time, we lost a little bit of that where other people have made their cars better. I talk to other drivers, and they're like, 'my car doesn't drive like that.' I'm like, 'well, that's what I've got."
He added: "The teams have learned and adapted and done things that are just better than others. You would say, 'Well, how can you do that? It's a Lego car. Everybody buys all the same stuff'. Trust me, you can work on these Legos a little bit to make yours better than the next guy's."
