NASCAR Cup Series star Brad Keselowski has shared the latest on his ongoing recovery after a serious injury during the offseason.
On a skiing trip in December, Keselowski broke his femur in an accident and was forced to undergo surgery, leaving him walking with a cane.
That saw him miss The Clash exhibition to start 2026, but remarkably, he was back in the car for the Daytona 500 and has continued to race since, even despite having had a backup on standby.

Brad Keselowski injury update
Now, speaking to the media at Phoenix Raceway, the driver of the No. 6 Ford shared the latest on his health after being asked how he was feeling after his first three races in the car.
“Really well," he told the media. "This is supposed to be a six-to-12-month recovery, and I’m on track to do it in three to four, which is great.
"I was just saying to my team when I was coming here that I got out of the motorhome and took my first three or four steps without a cane. I’m like, ‘I’m almost ready to be rid of this thing.’
"Mentally, I’m ready to be rid of it, but physically I’m not. It feels good."
Driving the car 'not the best thing' for recovery
Continuing further, Keselowski admitted that driving the car wasn't exactly the most optimal way to recover from his injury, but did state that once in the car, he doesn't feel so bad.
"Yes, driving the car is not the best thing for me in some ways," he explained. "Whether it be the vibration or the loads or just the movements to get in and out, but once I’m in the car, I feel reasonable. I can’t say it’s the best I’ve ever felt, but I feel reasonable.
"There are little setbacks that come from driving the car with dehydration or just the workload in general, but with a day or two of recovery I’ve been able to come back even stronger each of the three races we’ve had so far.
"I’m really happy just staying the course and putting the work in and dealing with the pain.
"In some ways, it’s good for me because it provides the motivation to put the work in to do the rehab at a really high level and I think that’s been really good for me."
Keselowski's season so far
Despite his injury and ongoing recovery, it has been a steady start to the season for Keselowski.
At the Daytona 500, he was in contention very late on and came home in fifth, and in Atlanta and at COTA, he finished 17th and 20th. Average, but by no means a disaster.
The above results currently leave him within The Chase cutoff (top 16) in 12th place on 78 points.
