NASCAR has issued a pair of suspensions over an incident at Chicagoland on Sunday.

The penalties will be applied to two members of Jeremy Clements' No. 51 Jeremy Clements Racing team, after his wheel came loose on track during Saturday's O'Reilly Series race

Front tire changer Shiloh Windsor and jackman Nicholas Cover have been suspended for the next two races – at Atlanta and Indianapolis – and will be eligible to return for Iowa in early August.

The pair were banned for a violation of Sections 8.8.10.4.A&D of the NASCAR rule book.

NASCAR issues double Cup Series penalty verdict

Despite two controversial incidents in the Cup Series race on Sunday, the JCR penalty was the only one assessed when looking back at the weekend.

NASCAR vice president of racing communications Mike Forde said that while no penalties will be assessed for incidents between Carson Hocevar and Zane Smith, or between Shane van Gisbergen and Austin Hill.

He did confirm that NASCAR will speak to those drivers this weekend at Atlanta, and added on the latter incident: “We looked to see if there were any anomalies throughout the race and something that spurred this that maybe was payback from earlier.

"We went through all the radio transmissions to see if there was anything that rose to kind of a smoking gun. Camera angles and all available resources, as we always say. And nothing in our eyes proved definitively this was 100 per cent intentional and penalty-worthy.”

He continued: “There’s enough reasonable doubt to where it didn’t rise to the penalty for us here. If you remove that reasonable doubt, then you’re going to get a penalty. If you say you’re going to do it and then do it, that is going to rise to the level of a penalty.”
