NASCAR silly season is getting into full swing, and it seems like 23XI Racing will look a little different in 2026.
The team has had fans begging them to promote Corey Heim into a Cup Series seat since the second half of his record-breaking Truck performance last season, but a driver logjam has the Truck champ running part-time only this year.
That, according to The Athletic's Jordan Bianchi, will not be an issue soon – with Riley Herbst on his way out of the team to join up with Legacy Motor Club for 2027 and beyond.
Legacy will run a three-car team as of next season after completing the purchase of a charter from Rick Ware Racing, and Bianchi reports that Herbst is 'expected' to be the beneficiary.

That, in turn, will open up a spot with the No. 35 team for Heim, who has run impressively when given the chance in the Cup Series in the No. 67 this year.
Of course, 23XI has already completed its most important contract work of the season, locking down Tyler Reddick on a multi-year deal after a record-breaking start to the 2026 season.
“Yeah," Reddick confirmed at Talladega. "We got the deal done. I'm gonna be continuing my future here at 23XI. Excited to have that all done and be able to continue building on what we've done.
“Just really glad that myself and 23XI were able to get to a good place and get the deal done. So, I'll be here for hopefully a long time.”
Elsewhere in the contract landscape, Kyle Busch is 'increasingly likely' to re-up at Richard Childress Racing as his winless streak continues, leaving Alex Bowman's situation at Hendrick Motorsports possibly the most interesting in the sport – along with RFK having three drivers they want to keep long-term, but only two charters for 2027.
