When you think of NASCAR racing, you think of high speed and ovals. However, several road courses put the stars of the sport to the test each year at turning both left and right.
For drivers who have grown up and honed their skills racing on ovals, that transition is not always easy, and over the years, some have mastered it more than others.
Four-time Cup Series champion Jeff Gordon remains the most successful driver in the division on road courses to date, with nine victories in total - five at Sonoma Raceway and four at Watkins Glen International.
Trackhouse Racing star Shane van Gisbergen is only one behind him now, though, tied in second spot with three-time champion Tony Stewart following his win at Sonoma on Sunday, which took his tally to eight.
Other active Cup Series stars to feature in the top 15 are Chase Elliott in fourth, Kyle Larson in tied-fifth, Tyler Reddick in tied-12th, and Christopher Bell in tied-15th.
