Shane Robert van Gisbergen - also known as ‘The Giz’ or simply ‘SVG’, is the finest NASCAR driver to come out of New Zealand.

The man from Auckland may struggle on ovals, but he is an absolute road-course bully - as referenced by his six Cup Series victories. He grabbed five consecutive road-course wins in 2025, mostly in dominant fashion, with the most recent at Charlotte Roval in September.

Despite those victories, his comparative struggles on ovals saw him make an early playoff exit and he would finish the year ranked 12th in the Cup Series standings.

Van Gisbergen was a racing star before really bursting to NASCAR prominence, notching a series of big-race wins around the world. He was successful in Australia’s Bathurst 12 Hour as well as claiming three Australian Supercars championships.

Now driving fulltime in the Cup Series in the No. 88 Chevrolet for Trackhouse Racing, SVG will be part of what looks like a stellar 2026 lineup alongside teen phenom Connor Zilisch and Ross Chastain. Like Zilisch, van Gisbergen is a Red Bull athlete.

Shane married his wife Jessica Dane (who manages Corvette Racing’s global program) in a low-key ceremony in the summer of 2025.
