NASCAR has announced that Sunday's Cup Series race at Pocono will start earlier than previously scheduled.

The Great American Getaway 400 was originally scheduled to start at 3pm ET, but will now begin two hours earlier at 1pm ET due to concerns about the weather in the area.

As pointed out by NASCAR, the flexible nature of the race being broadcast on Prime Video allowed them to make the change fairly seamlessly as officials look to ensure that the full 400 miles are run.

The National Weather Service currently has Sunday flagged as a 50 per cent chance of rain, with thunderstorms potentially in the area through the afternoon – although it'll be warm, with highs nearing 80 degrees.

The current NWS forecast reads: "A chance of showers and thunderstorms after 2pm. Partly sunny, with a high near 80. South wind 5 to 15 mph, with gusts as high as 25 mph. Chance of precipitation is 50%."
