NASCAR driver Josh Williams has been ruled out of this weekend’s O’Reilly Auto Parts Series showdown at Watkins Glen International due to an issue relating to a sponsor.

The 32-year-old DGM Racing star will not be able to get behind of the wheel of his No. 92 Chevrolet because of ‘a newly onboarded partner failing to meet its contractual obligations’, per a team release.

“This is an unfortunate circumstance for everyone involved,” he explained in a statement.

“No team works harder than the men and women at DGM, and this is just another setback for a dedicated team that consistently shows up doing so much with so little. We were very excited to bring a new partner into the sport, but they weren’t able to fulfil the terms and commitments they agreed to.

"As a team owner myself, I completely understand the decision that had to be made as a result. Looking forward to the day when we’ll be back.”

Although Williams will not compete at WGI, DGM says he will still pilot the No. 92 at various races in 2026, and his 2027 contract remains intact at this time.

Guenette to drive 92 car at Watkins Glen

DGM have moved swiftly to replace Williams for this weekend, with Alex Guenette called up to deputize.

Guenette has made seven starts in the NOAPS, three of which were with DGM Racing. In 60 NASCAR Canada Series starts, he has claimed a win, 18 Top 5s, and 40 Top 10 finishes. His best NOAPS finish of 15th came while driving a DGM Racing Chevrolet at the inaugural Chicago Street Course race in 2023.

“While this is an incredible opportunity for Alex, this is a terribly difficult situation for our team,” said team owner Mario Gosselin.

“Business aside, Josh is like a son to me, and I hate that we cannot keep him in the seat this weekend.

"We came into the season with strong commitments that we believed were going to elevate our program and position our team for success, but when those don’t come to fruition, tough decisions have to be made to protect the future of our program and ensure long-term stability.”
