A two-time Cup Series champion and NASCAR's most winningest driver across all three of its national series, Kyle Busch knows a thing or two about getting his car into victory lane.
And yet, despite that being the case, the Richard Childress Racing star has not won a race in the Cup Series since June 2023.
It has been a long, agonising 30 months since, with two back to back seasons where the two-time champion failed to even qualify for the playoffs.
However, 2025 felt particularly difficult for Busch at times, especially towards the end of the campaign, with just one finish inside the top five in the last 17 races.
Kyle Busch previews 2026
2026 offers the chance for a reset, however, and Busch has seen a big change to his team ahead of the new season.
Randall Burnett is out as crew chief and heading to Trackhouse Racing to work with Connor Zilisch, whilst Jim Pohlman is set to command the No. 8 crew from the top of the pit box.
Whether or not this in itself is a big enough switch to change Busch's fortunes remains to be seen, but Busch will hope it can at least be a contributing factor towards another victory.
First, though, the Richard Childress Racing driver believes he and his team need to prove that they can regularly run in the top five, and that only that sort of consistency will bring about further wins.
“There’s still a building process that’s got to take place to get us to that avenue," Busch explained via NASCAR.com.
"Being most consistent each and every week and finishing consistently in the top five is the easiest way to prove that you’re capable of your next win.
"So we’ve got to get to that point first.”
Busch's quest to get back in victory lane in the NASCAR Cup Series kicks off on February 15 when the 2026 schedule gets underway with the Daytona 500 at Daytona International Speedway.
A fortnight prior, he'll also have the chance to compete for a win in The Clash exhibition at Bowman Gray Stadium.
