They might not play any part in how fast a car goes out on the track, but NASCAR paint schemes are often one of the biggest talking points when it comes to racing.
Over the years, certain schemes have become synonymous with some of the sport's most legendary drivers, and die-cast replicas of some have sold in droves as fans collect their own little bit of NASCAR history.
Every year, NASCAR even celebrates historic paint schemes with a throwback weekend at Darlington, where the current crop of cars runs designs that are inspired by some of the most legendary schemes the sport has seen.
Kyle Busch is one such name whose success in the Cup Series has coincided with a memorable sponsor and related paint schemes, with M&M's having sponsored his No. 18 Toyota during his title-winning years at Joe Gibbs Racing.

Busch: Dale '3' most iconic paint scheme
But what are some of the most iconic NASCAR paint schemes of all time, according to Busch himself?
Well, the Games with Names podcast put that exact question to him back in October, to which he had a very clear answer.
“Dale Earnhardt black three man,” Busch said instantly when asked for his opinion on the topic. “Like, that's the most iconic, you know."
Busch continued, citing some other NASCAR legends and their iconic paint schemes: “Then you got Richard Petty, the STP car with the fluorescent day-glo orange and the Petty blue.
“Jeff Gordon's car, the rainbow car, not the flame car, Jeff wanted Flames, he didn’t wanna be the rainbow guy, right?”

Busch's favorite personal paint scheme
Busch also found time to discuss some of his favorite paint schemes over the years, with two in particular having been at the forefront of the two-time champion's mind.
“With M&M's I was able to do a movie scheme, so we did [an] Indiana Jones scheme back in 2008,” Busch recalled. “That was really cool.
“Crispy was actually my favourite M&M's candy as a kid growing up, so when I got to race the green crispy car," Busch cited as another one of his favorite schemes.
“That was the first time they did a full-season paint-out with a car base color other than yellow. It was always yellow, but that was green.”
