NASCAR legend Dale Earnhardt Jr. has admitted he misses manufacturer wars within the sport in reaction to the beef between Ford and General Motors (GM) this week.
Both Ford and GM will be involved in Formula 1 this upcoming season, with Ford having partnered with Red Bull to produce their new engines, whilst GM is set to become the owner of the 11th team on the grid under their Cadillac brand.
When discussing the two brands being involved in F1, however, CEO of Cadillac F1 Team, Dan Towriss, couldn't help but take a slight dig at Ford.
“It’s not even close,” Towriss said, via The Athletic, comparing Ford and GM's involvement in F1.
“One is a marketing deal with very minimal impact, while GM is an equity owner [of Cadillac's F1 team].
"They’re deeply embedded from an engineering standpoint, and they were involved from day one. Those two deals couldn’t be more different.”

Ford chief hits back
Naturally, Ford didn't take too kindly to this, hitting back in his own comments and telling The Athletic that he was 'stunned' having read Towriss' words.
“I would say, actually, the reverse is true,” Ford said. “They’re running a Ferrari engine. They’re not running a Cadillac engine.
"I don’t know if they have any GM employees on the race team.”
Dale Earnhardt Jr misses manufacturer wars
Earnhardt Jr. just so happened to come across this exchange with it having been shared on X, and he couldn't help reminisce on the manufacturer wars that used to be in NASCAR.
"Damn let's go," he wrote on X. "I miss these manufacturer wars.
"The battle is back on! I love it. Kick their ass Team Chevy."

Fans were in agreement with the NASCAR legend, with plenty calling for more of that kind of beef in NASCAR.
"We need more OEM beef in NASCAR. I feel like we don't get enough of it," one user wrote.
Another, meanwhile, added: "Hell yes! Let’s get spicy between manufacturers again!"
Journalist Toby Christie also wrote: "Things are getting spicy between Ford and GM over in F1… GOOD! Bring that same energy over to #NASCAR. Rivalry between drivers, teams, manufacturers, this is what fuels motorsport."
