Kyle Busch will be having a potentially uncomfortable conversation with a NASCAR official this week.

Cup Series Managing Director Brad Moran confirmed as much after Sunday's race at Bristol, which saw Busch make contact with Riley Herbst to bring out a late-race caution and force overtime.

The two-time Cup Series champion has not been issued any penalties for the incident, which occurred with four laps to go in the race, but Moran said he will be 'having a chat' with Busch about the moment.

The Richard Childress Racing star had been wrecked by Herbst earlier in the race, and appeared to be taking an opportunity for revenge when it presented itself just before the chequered flag.

NASCAR chief will 'deal with' Busch conversation

“We’ll be having a chat with him again,” Moran said in the aftermath of the race. “It’s Bristol racing. I’ll be dealing with that one.”

The Bristol weekend kept officials busy all around, with Moran's colleague Mike Forde confirming on the Hauler Talk podcast this week that he has to have a conversation of his own with a driver, after Christian Eckes wrecked Corey Heim in the Truck Series race.

Much like in the case of the Busch incident though, NASCAR will just be having a quiet word with the Truck driver rather than levying any penalty against him after review this week.

Denny Hamlin had his own say on the incidents on his Actions Detrimental podcast this week too, saying: “It’s not short track racing, he wanted to pay him back. Did you listen to the team radio? They had met their fun quota on the day. Things are not going well in the Kyle Busch camp. They’re all searching. Riley got into him.

"[They were telling] Riley right before he got into Kyle, saying, ‘Drive right into his left rear'. And they literally drove into his left rear. Didn’t take much, I mean, he barely touched him, but, nonetheless, it ended in the result of Kyle Busch spinning and getting crashed.

“Kyle saw an opportunity, and he took it. Did I have a problem with it? Yes and no, but more no than yes. … I don’t love the just blatant retaliation, but I’m more no than yes.”
