NASCAR team owner Roger Penske has praised President Donald Trump for his ‘amazing accomplishments’ since beginning his second term in the White House.

The 88-year-old Penske was a recent visitor to the Oval Office as Trump gave the green light for an INDYCAR race in the nation’s capital. The Freedom 250 Grand Prix is set to debut in Washington D.C. later in 2026.

After his meeting with Trump, Penske followed up with a letter lauding the President, and the official text has now been released by the White House.

Penske on Trump and 'border protection'

The Team Penske owner began by praising the 79-year-old Trump for his policies aimed at ‘protecting borders’ and boosting investment.
He wrote: “Thank you for all that you and your administration are doing to put “America First,” to protect our borders and return investment to our great country. It’s amazing what you have accomplished in your first year back in Office.”

Next Penske moved on to the subject of that INDYCAR race - which is currently slated to take place between August 21-23 inclusive.

Team boss on new race in Washington

“The announcement of the Freedom 250 Grand Prix was a big day for our country and for INDYCAR. It will certainly be a great celebration and will bring incredible economic value to Washington D.C. Thank you for your support in making this happen," he said.

The letter is the latest proof of what has been a long-standing friendship and relationship between Penske and Trump - one which is clearly built on mutual admiration.

During Trump’s first term, Penske received the Presidential Medal of Freedom back in 2019.

Penske has also been a regular White House visitor on the back of his team’s slew of NASCAR Cup Series titles in recent years. That would total four with Joey Logano a triple champion (2018, 2022 and 2024) and Ryan Blaney the top of the mountain in 2023.
